FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is there a registration fee?
    • Yes! Our registration fee is $25 per student/$15 for each additional family child and is due upon registration. You can pay on our website by credit card, or in the studio by check, cash, or credit card.
  • Is there a dress code?
    • Please click on this Dress Code link, to view our policies.
  • Can we try a class before registering for it?
    • Of course! Call us and let us know which class your dancer would like to try.
  • Do we have to pay tuition in full at the beginning of the semester?
    • There is a discount on tuition when paid up front. We do have a 3-Payment-Plan — the first payment is due upon registration. The next 2 payments are due on the 1st of the next two respective months.
  • Is class attendance mandatory?
    • Yes! It is vital that your dancer come to class. If they are sick, or injured, but are able to sit in the studio and watch their class and take notes, please bring them! If you know in advance that your student will be absent, please call and inform the studio as soon as possible. While we understand there will be extenuating circumstances, missing several classes leading up to the recital will result in your dancer not being able to participate in recital. We do have mandatory attendance weeks leading up to recital. Attendance during this time is absolutely mandatory.
  • Are recital rehearsals mandatory?
    • Absolutely! Tech rehearsal and dress rehearsal are mandatory and absence from either will result in your dancer not being able to participate in recital. We cannot make exceptions to this rule.
  • Where do I purchase dance clothing or shoes?
    • Gotta Dance! Studio! We sell a variety of leotards, tights, and dance shoes. All of our teachers can help measure and fit your dancer in the studio. If we don’t have the right size, we can place an order and get relatively fast delivery times.
  • Why does my child have to comply with a dress code?
    • Dancers must dress the part. The most important reason for the dress code is to ensure teachers are able to assess dancers’ form and alignment.
  • What is your music and costume philosophy for kids?
    • Gotta Dance! is well versed in the negative impact of inappropriate music, suggestive dance choreography and costume selection and are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring children in our studio are not subjected to any inappropriate songs, costuming, or choreography.
  • Will my child move levels each year?
    • No. Currently the Studio has 3-5 levels, depending on the class. Dancers do not move levels each year and, in fact, can expect to be in the same level for a few years. This does not mean that each year the dancer is taught the same exact skills. The teachers introduce new and increasingly challenging skills within one level, depending on the dancer’s abilities.
  • My child is really good – can she/he be moved up?
    • Dance teachers are trained to ensure children learn certain specific skills before allowing them to progress to a higher level class. The levels are set for a reason. They are based on both physical and emotional/cognitive development. Rest assured, we want to see your child progress and we are a small-enough studio that we pay individual attention to each child. When the Teacher and Director in consultation believe your child is ready to be “moved up”, the Director will notify the parent and a final decision will be made together.
  • Can I talk to my child’s teacher about a problem I have?
    • Please direct your questions or concerns to the Studio Manager or Director. Parents and students are asked not to contact Gotta Dance! teachers via phone, in person, or via email/social media with studio issues. You are always welcome to email the Studio Manager or Director. Please note that many concerns resolve themselves with time and perspective. Please consider emailing or calling.
  • Are you on social media?
    • Facebook is a great way for us to make announcements, so we encourage all families to “Like” our Gotta Dance! Facebook page. Please follow our Instagram at Gottadance2015 where we post videos and photos from the studio and inspirational messages for our students.
  • Is there a performance?
    • Yes! We have a Spring Recital. We do NOT have a Winter show. Technical Rehearsal will be May 14th, Dress Rehearsal will be May 17th, and Spring Recital is on May 18th, 2019.
  • Do I drop-off my dancer or stay through class?
    • We generally find that our dancers, especially our preschool level dancers, have an easier time paying attention if mom and dad aren’t in the room, so you are welcome to drop-off your dancer and pick them up after class is over.
